The concept of waterproof expansion joints has its roots and history in tunnel waterproofing and contracting going back to 1955. The concept of a continuous waterproof expansion joint was adapted from this idea, and incorporated into roofing and waterproofing applications. SITURA has been supplying waterproof expansion joints for projects all over North America and the world since 1996.
SITURA has developed applications for three types of waterproof joints, namely: RedLINE®, FlamLINE® and AquaLINE®. Each type of joint has a specific use, for example, RedLINE is used in applications that involve any type of membrane that is liquid, either hot or cold. RedLINE is specifically designed to bond to asphalt. FlamLINE is used in applications where the waterproofing membrane is torched or self-adhered. AquaLINE is specifically developed for use in potable water applications, and is NSF certified for this purpose. All joint materials used by SITURA, Inc., are manufactured under the ISO 9001 quality standard. Fabrication facilities are established in the USA and Canada.
SITURA supplies three basic types of expansion joints, each for a particular type of application.
RedLINE Waterproof Expansion Joint
RedLINE® is a technological advancement in expansion joints replacing the technology of raised expansion joints of the last 50 years. RedLINE® has been specifically developed to waterproof expansion and control joints. RedLINE® solves the dual problem of accommodating movement (and contraction) while at the same time maintaining water tightness. RedLINE® is developed to be installed at the waterproof membrane level, this provides for a non-obstructive joint, allowing free water drainage across the joint
RedLINE® is designed for use with all types of liquid (hot or cold) e.g. asphalt/coal tar pitch mopped systems.
FlamLINE Waterproof Expansion Joint
FlamLINE® is technological advancement in expansion joints replacing the technology of raised expansion joints of the last 50 years. FlamLINE has been specifically developed to waterproof expansion and control joints. FlamLINE® solves the dual problem of accommodating movement (and contraction) while at the same time maintaining water tightness. FlamLINE is developed to be installed at the waterproof membrane level, this provides for a non-obstructive joint, allowing free water drainage across the joint.
FlamLINE® is designed for use with Torched Modified Bitumen Membranes as well as Self Adhered Membranes. FlamLINE® can also be used with a two part epoxy on vertical surfaces or substrates such as metal, wood or plastic. FlamLINE® itself does NOT contain any asphalt.
AquaLINE Waterproof Expansion Joint
AquaLINE® is technological advancement in expansion joints for potable water containment structures. AquaLINE® has been specifically developed to waterproof expansion in such structures. AquaLINE solves the dual problem of accommodating movement (and contraction) while at the same time maintaining water tightness. AquaLINE, like its companion products RedLINE and FlamLINE is developed to be a zero profile joint. The zero profile provides for a non-obstructive joint.
AquaLINE® is designed for use with a compatible epoxy resin, which is NSF certified, for use in potable water structures. For resin certification details the epoxy resin manufacturer should be consulted.
